About

Macy Cook is a jeweller and painter currently living and working in Te Whanganui-a-Tara (Wellington), Aotearoa (New Zealand). Before establishing her creative practice, Macy danced professionally with the Royal New Zealand Ballet for five years. This experience continues to influence her work, where movement, discipline, and form are translated into jewellery. Her practice considers organic, malleable shapes and how these forms can disrupt while also interacting with line, precision, and structure

Macy’s work is also informed by the natural environment. She draws from New Zealand’s cycles of erosion and growth, considering how landscapes hold and reveal stories. Similarly, she explores how this concept can be mirrored in humans—how, as we weather, we grow richer in knowledge and memories, becoming more layered and complex. Each of her handcrafted works reflects this, emphasising imperfection, irregularity, and individuality through one-off sculptural pieces.

Currently, Macy is studying a Diploma of Creative Arts in Industrial Design at Massey University, alongside a Diploma in Counselling with the Australian Institute of Professional Counsellors. This unique intersection of design, movement, and human experience informs the depth of her work
